DESCRIPTION:
Atkins, Whiting & Co., "Parlor #1" with a Type III 30 day, wagon spring movement shelf clock, c1852
CONDITION:
Rosewood veneered case in original finish. Original top tablet with some very minor loss. Bottom tablet is a period mirror, that looks to be original as mirrors were used on these as well as gold design glass and a wood panel. Part of the mirror's center has been removed by a later owner to show the pendulum. Hands are original. Case houses a 30 day, type III decorative scroll design movement with a mixture of brass and tin wheels. Original painted dial has loss at the winding holes, center area, and at the mounting screws. This seems to be a problem with Atkins, Whiting & Co. dials in general. Ht 17.75"
